What's included in the free version?
The free version includes 3 templates (Recipe, Family Event, Home Improvement), 1 voice memo per photo (up to 5 seconds), full gallery access, search, filtering, and grouping. You can create unlimited photos with these features.
What do I get with Premium?
Premium (one-time purchase) unlocks: All 10+ templates (Travel, Medical, Vehicle, Pet, Product, Project, Restaurant), unlimited voice memos per photo with no time limits, and the ability to export entire projects as ZIP files for sharing.
How do voice memos work — do they modify my original photo?
No. When you record a voice memo, the audio is linked directly to your original photo without creating a copy or altering the photo file in any way. However, when you add text notes, NoteLens creates an annotated copy so your original is preserved untouched. A clear in-app banner reminds you of this distinction every time you open the voice recorder.
What happens to voice memos if I delete an annotated copy?
When you delete a NoteLens annotated copy along with its data, all associated voice memos are automatically removed as well. You won't see leftover ghost recordings on the original photo. Everything stays in sync.
Can I accidentally delete my original photos?
No — by default, permanent deletion of original photos is blocked. In Settings, you'll find the "Allow Deleting Original Photos" toggle which is OFF by default. NoteLens copies (the annotated versions created when you add text notes) can always be deleted freely regardless of this setting — only your originals are protected.
How do I add a photo with notes?
Tap the camera icon to take a new photo or select from your library. Choose a template or add quick notes. Optionally record a voice memo. Tap Save to store everything together.
Can I search my voice memos?
Yes! NoteLens automatically transcribes voice memos (when the device has connectivity for speech recognition). Search works across both text notes and transcribed audio.
How do I export projects?
Premium feature: In the Gallery, group photos by template or event. Tap the menu on any group header and select "Export as ZIP". This creates a package with all photos, notes in text files, and voice memo audio files.
Where is my data stored?
All data stays on your device. Text notes are stored in photo metadata using the iOS Photos framework. Voice memos are saved as audio files in the app's local storage. Nothing is uploaded to any server.
Can I use NoteLens offline?
Yes! NoteLens works completely offline. The only online feature is voice transcription, which uses device speech recognition when available, but voice memos still record and play offline.
How do I upgrade to Premium?
When you try to use a locked feature (like adding a 2nd voice memo, selecting a premium template, or exporting), you'll see the upgrade screen. It's a one-time purchase with lifetime access. Pricing is shown in the App Store.

Can I edit photos after saving?
Yes! Open any photo from the Gallery to view and edit its notes, add/remove voice memos (Premium), or change templates. Changes are saved to the photo's metadata.
How do I delete a photo's notes?
In the Gallery, long-press a photo and select "Remove NoteLens Data" to delete just the notes and voice memos, keeping the photo. Select "Delete Completely" to remove the annotated copy from your library. Original photos can only be permanently deleted when the safety toggle in Settings is enabled.
Does Premium require a subscription?
No! Premium is a one-time purchase. Pay once, use forever on all your devices signed in with the same Apple ID. Pricing varies by country and is shown in your local App Store.

Wenn du jedoch Textnotizen hinzufügst, erstellt NoteLens eine kommentierte Kopie, damit das Original erhalten bleibt. Ein gut sichtbarer Hinweis in der App erinnert dich jedes Mal daran, wenn du den Sprachrekorder öffnest.
Was passiert mit Sprachmemos, wenn ich eine kommentierte Kopie lösche?
Wenn du eine NoteLens-Kopie mit allen zugehörigen Daten löschst, werden die Sprachmemos automatisch mitentfernt. Am Originalfoto erscheinen keine Geister-Aufnahmen mehr. Alles bleibt synchron.
Kann ich meine Originalfotos versehentlich löschen?
Nein — standardmäßig ist das dauerhafte Löschen von Originalfotos gesperrt. In den Einstellungen findest du den Schalter „Originalfotos löschen erlauben", der standardmäßig deaktiviert ist. NoteLens-Kopien können unabhängig von dieser Einstellung jederzeit gelöscht werden — nur deine Originale sind geschützt.
